Rape arrest as police cordon remains in Acocks Green

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in Acocks Green. The alleged incident happened near the junction of Olton Boulevard East and Dolphin Lane last night, April 13, police said.

The man was also detained over suspected drug possession. He remains in police custody.

The woman, aged in her 40s, is currently being supported by specialist officers.

Police cordoned off a path and grassland near the junction last night. They remain at the scene today.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We’ve arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of rape and sexually assaulting a woman near the junction of Olton Boulevard East and Dolphin Lane, Acocks Green, last night.

“He was also detained over possession of drugs and remains in police custody for questioning. The woman, aged in her 40s, is currently being supported by specialist officers.

“A scene remains in place while we continue our enquiries.”
